Halloween is a 2018 American slasher film directed by David Gordon Green, written by Green, Jeff Fradley, and Danny McBride, and starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle who reprise their respective roles as Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, with stuntman James Jude Courtney, also portraying Myers. It is the eleventh installment in the Halloween film series and a direct sequel to Halloween (1978) while effecting a retcon of all previous sequels.[4] The plot follows a post-traumatic Laurie Strode who prepares to face Michael Myers in a final showdown on Halloween night, forty years after she survived his killing spree. The film also stars Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Virginia Gardner.

After failing to develop a new Halloween film in time, Dimension Films lost the production rights for a sequel, which reverted to Miramax, which then joined with Blumhouse Productions. In May 2016, a new installment was officially announced, with original co-creator John Carpenter's involvement as a composer, executive producer, and creative consultant.

Halloween premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2018, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 19, 2018, by Universal Pictures, the distributor's first involvement with the series since Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982). The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with many considering it to be both the best Halloween sequel and a return to form for the series. It has grossed over $254 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise and the highest-grossing slasher film in unadjusted dollars, breaking a record that Scream had previously set, as well as breaking several other box office records. A sequel is in early development.

Tumbbad is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language period horror film directed by debutant Rahi Anil Barve and co-directed by Adesh Prasad. Written by Barve, Prasad, Mitesh Shah and Anand Gandhi, who also served as the creative director, the film was produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah. Starring Shah in the lead role, it follows the story of Vinayak Rao (Shah) who goes on to search for a hidden treasure in the 20th century Maharashtra. Pankaj Kumar served as the director of photography while Sanyukta Kaza was its editor. The original score was composed by Jesper Kyd while Ajay-Atul composed one song.

Barve started writing the script based on a story by Marathi writer Narayan Dharap his friend had told him in 1993. He wrote the first draft in 1997, when he was 18 years old and from 2009 to 2010, he created a 700-page storyboard for the film. It went on the floor for three times and was opted from seven production companies who backed out. It was first shot in 2012 but after the editing, Barve and Shah did not feel satisfied. The film was then re-written and re-shot and the filming completed in May 2015.

Tumbbad premiered in the critics' week section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival, becoming the first Indian film to be screened there. It was also screened at the 2018 Fantastic Fest, Sitges Film Festival, the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, the El Gouna Film Festival, 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala, Morbido Film Fest and Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. It was released on 12 October 2018 to mostly positive reviews with critics praising the visuals. Made on a production budget of ₹5 crore, the film grossed a total of ₹13.57 crore at the box office, making it a profitable venture. Tumbbad received eight nominations at 64th Filmfare Awards winning three for Best Production Design, Best Cinematography & Best Sound Design [3]. The film also won the Best Production Design at the Zee Cine Awards [4] along with the Best Cinematography & Best Child Artist at the 25th Screen Awards. [5]

2.0 is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language science fiction action film[3][7] written and directed by S. Shankar. Produced by Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions. As the second installment in the Enthiran franchise, 2.0 is a standalone sequel to Enthiran (2010), featuring Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and K. Ganesh appear in supporting roles. The film follows the conflict between Chitti, the once dismantled humanoid robot, and Pakshi Rajan, a former ornithologist who seeks vengeance upon cell phone users to prevent avian population decline. The soundtrack is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics written by Madhan Karky and Na. Muthukumar.

Produced on an estimated budget of ₹543 crore (US$79 million), 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film to date. Production began in 2015, with principal photography conducted at AVM Studios later that year. The first schedule was filmed at EVP World. Scenes were primarily shot in India, particularly in Chennai's Madras Boat Club and Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Filming was completed by August 2017. The film is the first in Indian cinema to be natively shot in 3D, which was done by cinematographer Nirav Shah. Legacy Effects made their return to construct prosthetic makeup and animatronics, with visual effects supervised by V. Srinivas Mohan. Editing was handled by Anthony and production design was conducted by T. Muthuraj.

2.0 was released worldwide in both 3D and conventional format on 29 November 2018, along with its dubbed versions in Hindi and Telugu. It received mixed to positive reviews upon release. Critics particularly praised the film's visual effects, performances of Rajinikanth and Kumar, and social message; the pace and screenplay received criticism. It earned ₹117.34 crore (US$17 million) worldwide on its first day, which was the second highest ever for an Indian film. The film crossed ₹520 crore (US$75 million) in its opening weekend to be the highest-grossing film worldwide for that week. 2.0 is the second highest-grossing film in India and is the sixth highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.[8][9]

Incredibles 2 was named by the National Board of Review as the Best Animated Film of 2018. Pictures. It received generally mixed reviews, with praise for its performances and atmosphere, but criticism for its weak narrative and over-reliance on jump-scares. Despite this, it was a major box office success, grossing $365 million worldwide, thus becoming the highest-grossing film of the series.[5]
